Before the book dives in to the gospels it dives into the history of the study and criticism and historicity of the gospel narratives, tackling applied lines of thought both liberal and conservative, though Blomberg’s personal explanations of some difficult passages and thoughts come across even-handedly and not adhering to either liberal or conservative hang-ups.

It was good book jeesus not as conservative as I would expect. This is a rich resource from which even the seasoned scholar can pick up valuable material. I purchased this book for a class, It was informative and provided a bpomberg perspective into the life and ministry of Jesus. Nov 15, Stuart rated it really liked it.
Each section ends with a brief “Questions for Review” which adds to the college course feeling of this book. When it comes to New Testament Introduction, the Gospels are so critically important that they are definitely worth a whole volume to themselves.

The book concludes with two shorter chapters addressing the historical reliability of the Gospels and the Theology of Jesus. He is currently a distinguished professor of New Testament. The final part on historical trustworthiness and theology round out the fine volume.
Part three is an overview of each of the Gospels highlighting their themes and structure. The Kindle edition is clear and tidy. Section three begins the examination of the Four Gospel and provides the reader with the typical introductory material, such as authorship, structure, date, theology, etc.
Withoutabox Submit to Film Festivals. Blomberg has done an excellent job examing the various issues in a brief, but informative manner. Skipped around a bit since this is more of a textbook. Blomberg also gives us a wonderful background of the historical Jesus in the beginning which helps us to see the gospels from the viewpoint of the first century.
